Fun facts about Canada’s Wonderland

Canada’s Wonderland is our home and native park here in Ontario and the most visited seasonal park in North America. If you’ve never visited this beautiful gem, it’s worth a visit. We’ll be featuring it in a few blogs once the operating season begins. In the meantime, check out these interesting facts about the park:

  • Almost 200,000 Funnel Cakes are consumed every season.
  • It would take 154,567,128 bottles of water to fill Splash Works.
  • Wonder Mountain required over 1,000 tons of steel and 5 million pounds of sand and cement to build.
  • A half million stuffed toys are won each season.
  • The Park has close to 6,000 trees and 75,000 shrubs.
  • Over 50,000 pounds of bulk candy are sold in a season. That’s the average size of 5 adult elephants.
  • 10,000 bulbs and 50,000 annuals are planted every season.
  • The Park’s parking lot is over 3 million square feet with 10,300 parking spaces. It would be able to hold over 50 cruise ships.
  • The Park employs over 4,000 seasonal staff.
  • The fountain on International Street is named Royal Fountain.
  • There are 3.3 million individual paving stones in the Park.
  • The Park is the single largest employer of youth in Canada and York Region’s top employer.
  • International Street’s Pizza Pizza sells more pizza slices than any other Pizza Pizza location in Ontario, even though we are only open for 130days. There are 5,310 Red & White Begonias in the Floral Flag at Front Gate. It takes 10 people one day to plant the entire flag.
  • Over 100,000 Foot long hotdogs are consumed in a season, equivalent to the length of more than 350 Canadian football fields.
  • Since the Park opened, over $200 million has been invested in new attractions and facilities.
  • It would take 90 gallons of paint to paint the bottom of Whitewater Bay – Canada’s largest outdoor wave pool.
  • The Park has North America’s greatest variety of roller coasters, with 16 in all.
  • Longest coaster in the Park is Leviathan® at 5,486 feet long.
  • Shortest coaster in the Park is Taxi Jam at 205 feet long.
  • Both the Victoria Day and Canada Day fireworks celebrations use in excess of 4000 fireworks, hitting heights of over 600ft.
